Local Elections 2024

On 2 May 2024, there will be local elections for the 82 Dorset Council Councillors, across 52 wards.  We’re going to ask every candidate for these 82 seats, four questions about their attitude, and aspirations for active travel.  We will publish their responses here, to allow active-travel supporters to easily compare candidates.  These are the questions:

  1. What benefits do you think Active Travel brings to your local community?
  2. Which local schools do you think would most benefit from an Active Travel upgrade, and why?
  3. Which residential areas, in your ward, do you think might benefit from a 20mph zone, or a through-traffic restriction? In your opinion are there any residential areas that would not benefit from a 20mph and why?
  4. What is your favourite thing about walking or cycling in your ward?

Can you help us achieve this?  Would you like to find your local candidates, write to them, and then when they respond, send their replies to us to publish? We are looking for a representative in each of the 52 Dorset Council wards to email/write to their candidates and ask these questions. Think you can help us? Please e-mail us at dorsetactivetravel@gmail.com to get involved. The official list of nominated persons is here.
