Better Cycling in Dorset is a campaign to promote Active Travel in the Dorset Council area. We are a group of Active Travel participants who believe that our councils do not do enough.
What we are campaigning for:
- Every school child in Dorset having a safe option to get to school either on foot, scooter or by cycle.
 - Dorset residents having the freedom to choose to cycle safely, for short local journeys.
 - Good quality Active Travel routes, connected to the existing network, as part of every new development.
 - Cycleways and Footpaths to be maintained adequately. (potholes, hedges, leaves and gritted, etc.)
 - Improvements and investments to upgrade existing routes and fix missing links.
 - We support 20mph zones and low-traffic-neighbourhoods on residential streets.

Why are we campaigning for this?
- Many people enjoy cycling
 - Cycling has the lowest carbon footprint of any transport
 - More people cycling actually reduces traffic congestion
 - Statistically most urban journeys are under 3 miles/5 km, and are easily cyclable
 - Cycling has benefits to both physical and mental health.
 - Parking is free on a bicycle! In fact, bicycles are really cheap to run! Having a cargo bike as your second vehicle, could save your family £1000s per year!
